Once I was done with the forms I started on the fore stem this required drawing the entire stem to actual life size. This took some interesting figuring and some internet searching. To my best guess the drawing sent from Australia is about 1:1.333333. I found a website that will make a paper ruler to any scale odd or not and you can print the ruler so you can use it to measure the drawing and scale it up to actual 1:1.  From the 1:1 drawing I made a pattern for cutting out the stem. The plans called for 2 3\/8\u201d material but that isn\u2019t a size I could locate around Casper so I settled on 4 layers of 5\/8\u201d plywood. Marine grade plywood isn\u2019t available in our area either so I\u2019m going to make do with what is. As I mentioned before I will be coating all the wood with several layers of epoxy and glass fiber so I feel it is an acceptable plan overall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once done with the scale drawing I made a pattern for the plywood out of osb scrap. I wanted to make sure it fit properly before I cut out the 5\/8 plywood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then I cut the 4 pieces from the 5\/8 and glued and screwed them together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made the aft stem the same way. Once I finished the stems I started cutting the notches in the forms for the keelson. I then cut and laminated in place the 3 long pieces of 5\/8 by 4\u201d plywood and clamped the whole works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
