Just a quick update on the MEA project. As you know, I have been trying to accumulate enough lead to cast the ballast keel. Through a couple of fortunate events, I earned enough money to purchase the lead I need. The other recycling place had enough scrap lead at a good price to accommodate my needs. First, my friend and long-time supporter rented my little dump trailer, which was unexpected and nice. Then, another acquaintance bought some reloading things that I have been trying to sell for a long time. To top off the great day, when I called Pacific Steel and Recycling in Casper, the person I talked to said he thought they had a couple of hundred pounds. When I went over to get what they had, it turned out to be 650lbs. After I process it, added to what I already have, that should be about the exact amount I need to complete the ballast. I have to say, I’m ecstatic at the possibility of finally continuing with my project. Hopefully, in the near future, I will have a post on melting and casting the ballast.
Here is a picture of the lead in my truck.
The lighter area is where the ballast will be when I’m finished.
