I finally have a sailing adventure to write about for a change. Dr. M and I signed up for an American Sailing Association sailing class on Flathead Lake in MT. We hauled the camper up there as hotel rooms are spendy this time of year. The first night, we stopped in Billings, Mt at the Yellowstone campground. The place was nice and quiet with a really friendly staff. I was suffering from an intense allergy season, which makes me feel sick and exhausted. We had a nice supper in town and got some sleep. The next morning, we went into Billings to the downtown part. We found a nice little diner to have breakfast and the food was excellent. We got a few supplies and headed back and hooked up the trailer. We drove on I-90 all the way to Missoula, which got a little nuts. In hindsight, I wish we had taken a different route for part of the trip. We got to the place we were going to stay at around 1800 hrs and got set up.
We stayed at the lodge and resort at Lake Mary Ronan. It was a really nice place to stay. It was a little more upscale than the places I’m used to staying. The only kind of odd thing about it was that we had to pull into a spot and unhook, then drive across their grass to get out from in front of the trailer. I snapped a couple of pictures from the deck of the lodge. It rained almost every evening. The class was really great, and we learned a ton. In fact, it was so much info that we decided to skip the second class, and I never got a chance to snap a picture of the boats.
We did get our 101 certifications. With our class done, we decided to get up the next morning and head home. We went on the interstate as far as Laurel Mt, then we went south on the 2 lanes through Lovell, Wy and Thermopolis. It made for a long day, but it was nice to be home. I did snap a few pictures of the mountain near Dayton where we took our class, some of the boats at the school and south of Thermopolis when we were headed south as the light was cool.
