As most of you are aware I’m sure, truck driving can be a hard job and it isn’t any easier being away from my family now than it was when I did it years ago. I have an occasional rough day or week but I survive. The Lord seems to provide some help when I need it the most. This is the case a few months back I was in Florida which is a cool state and I had a weekend waiting for a delivery. I took advantage of the time off and got an uber to the shore from my truck. I had an awesome lunch took some pictures on the shore and generally had a good time. Unfortunately I over did it and got burnt and heat sick and felt pretty low not having anyone to share the pretty day with. As I sat in my truck the next day I didn’t feel like doing much, I forced myself to at least get out and walk around a bit. I was looking at the little pond beside the truck stop parking lot when this (I thought at the time) crazy guy comes whipping in and parks right next to me. He jumps out of his truck and yells there are fish in there I will show you! He digs around in the side box of his truck and pulls out a rod, reel and tackle box. Since he seems harmless and it’s the most interesting thing that has happened today I follow along. He is talking a mile a minute in an accent I don’t recognize all about his life and family and driving etc. all the time he is casting into this pond with a special lure he gets from walmart. After a few minutes he catches a bass. See he says I told you. Then he catches 3 more one right after another all the while asking questions and telling stories. Finally he stops and looks me right in the eye and says you’re a born again Christian aren’t you. I say yes a little surprised by the hard right turn in the conversation. He gets a big grin on his face and says “I knew it. I told my wife when I saw you that you were.” He then announces we’ll have fish for dinner. He cleans the fish and then invites me to his truck for dinner we were going to have it outside but it starts raining like crazy. So he cooks the fish in a electric hot plate it is a Brazilian dish which I have forgotten the name of but is was magnificent. He served it with homemade hot sauce. We ate and talked about all things especially our families it really lifted my spirits when I needed it the most.
